I want to help every one understand how destructive the 2024 hurricane season will more than likely be.

The last time there was a category 5 storm in the Atlantic Ocean in the month of July was in 2005. The same year Katrina happened along with 6 other hurricanes that caused damage over $100B in damage.

We are also dealing with ocean temperatures that are the highest we’ve seen since 1981.

Higher ocean temperatures create an environment for hurricanes to rapidly increase in strength which we are currently seeing with hurricane beryl which was a tropical storm less than a week ago that is now a Category 5 hurricane.

Why does this happen?

Warm water

I've included a link that shows the current ocean temperature for various cities along the Gulf of Mexico. All of them are above 84 degrees.

Once temperatures exceed 83-84 degrees hurricanes will rapidly intensify.

Couple this with the knowledge that La Niña has greatly reduced the wind shear that protected North America by pushing would be hurricanes back out into the ocean. We have all of the factors necessary for a long destructive hurricane season.

Pay attention to the weather, and get prepared. It’s going to be rough
